Past Events:
There was no meeting in December.  Our Christmas Party was held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Village Hall on VMRC's Campus.  Everyone had a great time!

September 21, 2011:  Our speaker was Valda Garber-Weider, Director of Assisted Living at VMRC (Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community).  She discussed issues relating to memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer's Disease.  Many brain injury survivors experience similar symptoms.

August 17, 2011, Nancy Shomo, Grief and Loss Coordinator at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, was our speaker.  Nancy addressed issues regarding stress and dealing with loss/grief of former lives before brain injury, and the different stages of grief and loss that individuals go through.

At the July 20, 2011 meeting, our speaker was Elizabeth Bowman of Crossroads to Brain Injury Recovery, Inc., who discussed the Commonwealth Neurotrauma Initiative (CNI) project.  Elizabeth told us about the project's goal and some of the obstacles they have faced.

The Annual Picnic was held on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Camp Still Meadows in Linville, Virginia.  There was a nice breeze through the Pavilion that made the event more pleasurable!  Plenty of food, fellowship, and great music was enjoyed by all.  See the Photo Gallery for pictures.  Our special thanks to Jan Maasch for allowing us again to hold our picnic at her beautiful location.  Special thanks also to the fine musicians that played ol' time music for us.
